Front Heat Shield For Longitudinal Member, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the rear noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Left:

-- Remove the front noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the subframe shield. Refer to SUBFRAME SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the spring clips -arrows-.

-- Remove the heat shield -1- downward.

Right:

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING - 2.0L DMSA , COOLANT LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING - 2.0L DPVA , COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING - 3.0L .

-- Remove the air filter housing. For TDI vehicles, refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - 2.0L DMSA , AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - 2.0L DPVA . For TFSI vehicles, refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - 3.0L .

The removal of the coolant pipes on the 2.0L TDI engines is shown.

-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows- and remove the coolant hoses.

-- Remove the nut -1- and bolt -2-. Then remove the right coolant pipes on the longitudinal member.

-- If equipped, remove the bolts -2- and move the coolant pipe -3- to the side.

-- Remove the spring clips -arrows-.

-- Remove the heat shield -1- upward.
