- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Secure the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture:VAS 6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the headrest. Refer to HEADREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the backrest heating wiring harness on the seat pan and free it up.
-- Remove the tunnel-side seat side trim. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON TUNNEL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the seat side trim on the side sill side and remove the bracket. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON SIDE SILL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Vehicles with child seat anchor
-- Remove the child seat anchor. Refer to FRONT CHILD SEAT ANCHOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Vehicles with backrest fan
-- Remove backrest blower fan. Refer to BACKREST FAN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Continuation for all vehicles
-- Disengage the hooks on the backrest frame -arrows-.
-- Remove the clips -arrows- on the backrest frame with the Pry Lever:80-200 .
-- Remove the clips -A arrows- on the backrest frame with the Pry Lever:80-200 .
-- Disengage the molding on the backrest frame -B arrows-.
-- Remove the front thorax airbag. Refer to FRONT THORAX AIRBAG WITH IGNITER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connectors -1- and -2- and pull through the opening -3- in the cover.
-- Loosen the cover and cushion from the backrest frame and remove forward carefully.
