Airbag Control Module -J234-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing
Risk of injury due to involuntary deployment.
- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
-- Move the front seat all the way back.
-- Remove the front footwell center console trim panels. Refer to FRONT FOOTWELL CENTER CONSOLE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable when the ignition is turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Push the insulation mat over the control module to the side.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- in the front of the front passenger footwell.
-- Push the insulation mat over the control module to the side.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- in the front of the driver footwell.
-- Carefully lift the airbag control module -1- from the threaded pins and remove toward the driver side.
Risk of injury due to involuntary deployment.
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Disconnect the connectors by releasing the connector safety catch and opening the securing clip on the connector.
