Brake Caliper, Replacing, All Brakes Excluding 1LC, 1LE, 1LF: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

-- Install the brake pads. Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Move the bracket -3- with the brake hose into its installation position and tighten the union bolt -1- and bolts -2-.

-- Bring the brake pad wear sensor into its installation position on the bracket and turn it in the direction of -arrow- until the tab -2- engages in the hole -3- on the bracket.

-- Connect the connector -1-.

-- Remove the Brake Pedal Actuator:V.A.G 1869/2  .

-- Only bleed the brakes on the wheel from which the brake caliper and the brake hose were loosened. Refer to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, BLEEDING .

-- Check brake fluid level, and fill if necessary.

CAUTION:

Faulty brakes increase the risk of an accident.

- Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.

-- With the vehicle stationary, firmly press the brake pedal several times so that the brake pads in the operating condition properly sit in their respective position.
