Cigarette Lighter -U1- /12 V Socket -U5-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing

-- Remove the center console cover. Refer to OVERVIEW - CENTER CONSOLE .

-- Free up and disconnect the connector.

-- The release tabs -2- on the Cigarette Lighter Release Tool:T40148 must engage in the openings on the cigarette lighter -3- -arrow-. To do so, the threaded rod -1- must be slid all the way down.

-- Insert the Cigarette Lighter Release Tool:T40148 into the socket -1- until it stops.

-- Turn the thumbwheel -2- at the release tool clockwise all the way to the end stop.

The plunger -2- is pulled up and the release tabs -1- are spreading in the Cigarette Lighter Release Tool:T40148 -arrows-.

-- Remove the cigarette lighter using the release tool from the illumination ring with the Cigarette Lighter Illumination Bulb -L28-.

-- Guide the wire out through the mount.
