Suspension Strut, Removing And Installing: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Window Release Tool:T10236
- Torque Wrench 1783 - 2-10Nm:V.A.G 1783 for versions with air suspension.
- Torque Wrench 1783 - Open Jaw - 10mm:V.A.G 1783/1 for versions with air suspension.
Removing
-- Remove the shock absorber fork. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER FORK, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the additional reinforcement for the tower brace. Refer to TOWER BRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Versions with Air Suspension:
- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
- Make sure that during the assembly work, no pressure points are created on the air suspension boot.
- If the air line is removed from a component, check if the cutting ring is seated on the air line.
-- Remove the air line -2- on the residual pressure valve -3-. The air escapes from this.
-- Free up the air line on the bracket -1-.
TIP:
The residual pressure valve cannot be removed separately.
-- Seal both connections.
-- Remove the cover -1-.
-- Release the locking ring -2- upward -arrows-.
-- Press off the connector -1- using the Release Tool: T10236 -item 2-.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the suspension strut.
- Do not damage the CV boots on the steering, input shaft, and boot on the suspension strut.
