Brake Pads, Removing And Installing, Brake Caliper With Brake Pad Spring: Removing

-- Release the parking brake.

-- Switch off the ignition.

-- Remove the rear wheel, while observing the safety precautions for vehicles with ceramic brakes. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .

-- To replace the brake pads, drive the parking brake motors rearward using the program "brake pads, removing". Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ENTRY .

-- Follow the instructions in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.

-- Free up the wire by removing the protective cap -3- from the bleed screw and the clip -4-.

-- Carefully remove the contact -2- for the brake pad wear indicator using pliers while paying attention to the clip -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- by counterholding the guide pins -1 and 2-.

-- Remove the brake caliper and guide the brake pad wear indicator wire out at the same time.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the brake hose due to the weight of the brake caliper.

- Never let the brake caliper hang on the brake hose.

-- Hang the brake caliper using a suitable wire.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the brake caliper piston if handled incorrectly.

- Never activate the brakes if the brake caliper is removed.

-- First, remove the brake pads -1- at the outside outward.

-- Remove the brake pads in between the tabs -arrow- of the springs -3- toward the front (shown for the outer brake pad).

-- Remove the springs.
