Overview - Ten-Piston Steel Brake Q7/Q8

  1. Brake Shield
  2. Wheel Bearing Housing
  3. Bracket
    • For connector, wiring harness and brake hose
  4. Bolt
    • 20 Nm
  5. Bracket
    • For brake hose
  6. Rivet
  7. Bracket
    • For the brake line/hose
    • On the body
  8. Spring
    • Replace if damaged
  9. Brake Line
    • Brake line to brake hose tightening specification: 14 Nm
  10. Brake Hose
    • Replace if damaged
    • Allocation. Refer to the appropriate Electronic Parts Information.
    • Make sure the brake hose is routed correctly. Make sure the brake hose is not blocked, bent, twisted or rubbing against the vehicle.
    • Make sure that tabs are properly seated in the grooves on the bracket.
    • Refer to Figure
  11. Bolt
    • 196 Nm
  12. Brake Pads
  13. Brake Pad Retaining Plate
    • Replace when replacing the pads
    • Check for proper seating
  14. Brake Pad Wear Indicator Wire
  15. Protective Cap
  16. Bleed Screw
  17. Brake Pad Spring
    • Always replace a damaged spring
    • Note the installation position
  18. Brake Pad Spring

  19. Brake Caliper
  20. Bolt
    • 10 Nm
  21. Brake Rotor
    • Allocation. Refer to the appropriate Electronic Parts Information.
    • Refer to BRAKE ROTORS, CHECKING, CERAMIC BRAKES
    • Wear limit specified on the brake rotor
    • Refer to BRAKE ROTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, CERAMIC BRAKES Q7/Q8 
    • Do not replace the damaged or worn brake rotor individually on a complete axle.
    • If only one brake rotor is replaced, the brake pads can be reused, if they do not show any damages.
    • Pay attention to the side of the vehicle specified on the brake rotor "L" / "R" and the running direction "arrow"
  22. Bolt
    • 10 Nm

Do Not Loosen the Caliper/Brake Carrier Bolted Connections.

CAUTION:

Damage to the brake caliper due to bolts being loosened.

- Do not loosen the bolts -arrows- on the brake caliper.

- The left and right nut -1- must not be loosened.
