Tunnel CROSSMEMBER, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 3.0L TDI Engine: Removing
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the front exhaust pipe.
-- If equipped, remove the lower EGR pipe. Refer to the appropriate Exhaust System article .
-- Release the retainers in direction of -arrows A- and slide the sleeve -1- on the emergency release cable in direction of -arrow B-.
-- Disconnect the rear emergency release cable from the front emergency release cable in direction of -arrow C-.
-- Mount the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support:T10337 on the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931 and attach it under the transmission and support the transmission.
To prevent damage to the driveshaft heat shield, place a suitable piece of wood -arrow- underneath as shown.
There is the risk of an accident.
- The Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931 may only be used during assembly and must not sit unsupervised under the vehicle.
Vehicles with NOx Sensor Control Module 2 -J881- and Particulate Sensor -G784-
-- Loosen the bracket with NOx Sensor Control Module 2 -J881- and Particulate Sensor -G784- from the tunnel crossmember and tie it up to the exhaust pipe. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- for the tunnel crossmember.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and lower the tunnel crossmember -3- slightly.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and free up the rear emergency release cable -2-.
-- Remove the tunnel crossmember.
