Brake Pads, Removing And Installing, RSQ8: Removing

-- Remove the brake pad wear indicator wire. Refer to BRAKE PAD WEAR INDICATOR WIRE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, RSQ8 .

-- Remove the brake caliper. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, RSQ8 .

To prevent the brake fluid from overflowing, extract some of the brake fluid out of the brake fluid reservoir.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of contamination and paint damage from leaking brake fluid.

- Check the brake fluid level before pushing the brake caliper piston back into the brake cylinders.

-- Position the Piston Resetting Tool:T10145 -2- on the old brake pads -1- are carefully push back the brake caliper piston all the way in the brake caliper.

Label the brake pads when removing if they are going to be used again. Install in the same position, otherwise the braking effect will be uneven.

Pull out the brake pads -2 and 3- one after the other toward the center of the brake caliper.
Unclip the brake pad retaining plate -1-.
Do not change the shape of the brake pad spring and brake pad retaining plate.
Damaged brake pad springs and brake pad retaining plates must be replaced.
