Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing

-- If replacing the Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70-, select the "Brake system pressure reservoir, replacing" program. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ENTRY .

-- Follow the instructions in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.

-- Switch off the ignition.

-- Remove the plenum chamber cover. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Insert the Brake Pedal Actuator:VAG1869/2  -A- between the brake pedal and driver seat. Pretension the brake pedal at least 60 mm.

By doing this, the valves in the brake master cylinder are closed and the brake fluid reservoir does not run empty.

-- Remove the protective cap -3- from the bleed screw -1- on the left front caliper.

-- Connect the bleeder bottle hose -2- as shown.

-- Open the bleed screw to reduce the pressure in the brake system.

-- Close the bleed screw and remove the bleeder bottle.

-- Repeat the procedure on the left rear brake caliper.

• Do not remove the Brake Pedal Actuator:VAG1869/2  .

-- To prevent brake fluid from escaping, place enough lint-free cloths in the area under the pressure reservoir.

-- Remove the union bolt -3- and remove the brake line -1- from the pressure reservoir.

-- Immediately close open connection points with a clean plug.

-- Disconnect the connector -2-.

-- Pull the Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70- -1- upward from the retaining pins and remove it.

-- Should the Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70- be replaced, remove the bolts -arrows- and the bracket -1- (example illustration).
