ABS Control Module -J104- /ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing

-- If the ABS Control Module -J104- is replaced, select the "Control module, replacing" program. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ENTRY .

-- If the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- is replace, select the "Hydraulic Unit, Replacing" program. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ENTRY .

-- Follow the instructions in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.

-- Insert the Brake Pedal Actuator:VAG1869/2  -A- between the brake pedal and driver seat. Pretension the brake pedal at least 60 mm.

By doing this, the valves in the brake master cylinder are closed and the brake fluid reservoir does not run empty.

CAUTION:

Leaking brake fluid increases the risk of injury.

Risk of skin irritation and injury.

- Wear protective gloves and eyewear.

-- Remove the protective cap -3- from the bleeder valve -1- on the respective brake caliper.

-- Attach the bleeder hose -2- from the bleeder bottle to the bleeder screw for the left front brake caliper.

-- Open the bleed screw to reduce the pressure in the hydraulic system.

-- Close the bleeder screw.

-- Attach the bleeder bottle bleed hose -1- to the left rear brake caliper bleeder screw.

-- Open the bleed screw to reduce the pressure in the hydraulic system.

-- Close the bleed screw and remove the collection bottle.

-- Place enough lint-free cloths under the ABS Control Module -J104- and the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-.

-- First, mark both brake lines -2- from the brake master cylinder and remove from the hydraulic unit.

-- Immediately close open connections with a clean plug.

-- Label and remove the remaining brake lines -1-.

-- Immediately close open connections with a clean plug -2-.

-- Release and remove the connector -3-.

-- Make sure that no brake fluid enters the control module connector housing.

-- Free up the wire.

-- Carefully pull the ABS Control Module -J104- /ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- -1- off of the pins on the bracket -3- and remove.

-- If necessary, remove the bolt -4- and the bracket -1-.
