Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting And Connecting From Condenser

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Disconnecting

• For all the following work, immediately close the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set:VAS 6122  .

Vehicles with High-Voltage System

-- Switch off (deactivate) the "parking air conditioner". Refer to Owner's Manual.

-- Switch the ignition on.

-- Vehicles with eat Pump Function, initiate the A/C system basic setting through the Thermal Management Control Module -J1024- and open the power-activated valves through the stored routine Extract, evacuate and fill the refrigerant circuit  using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester .

-- Switch the ignition off.

-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit or A/C SERVICE STATION, USING .

Q7 Before Product Improvement

-- Vehicles without left charge air cooler: remove the left air intake grille and if necessary the charge air cooler installed behind. Refer to OVERVIEW - BUMPER COVER .

-- Vehicles with left charge air cooler: remove the front noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Vehicles with left charge air cooler: remove the end panel for the front bumper cover. Refer to OVERVIEW - BUMPER COVER .

-- Remove the left air intake grille. Refer to OVERVIEW - BUMPER COVER .

Q7 after product improvement, Q8 with S line, SQ8, Q8 with 4-cylinder TFSI evo4 engine

-- Remove the center bumper cover end plate. Refer to OVERVIEW - BUMPER COVER .

Q8 without S line, except 4-cylinder TFSI evo4 engine

-- Remove the front impact guard. Refer to OVERVIEW - BUMPER COVER .

RS Q8

-- Remove the front noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the leftover bolts -arrows- from the bumper cover -1-.

-- Remove the left wheel spoiler. Refer to OVERVIEW - FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER .

-- Remove the bolt -C-.

-- Remove the refrigerant lines -B and D- from the condenser -A-.

-- Close open line connections and condenser connections.

Connecting

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

-- Clean the refrigerant line connections on the condenser -C- and on the refrigerant lines -A and E- and check for damage.

-- Replace the O-rings seals -B and D-. Refer to the Parts Information for the version.

-- Check the alignment pin (installed in the condenser connection or the refrigerant line, not present in all connections) for damage and correct seating.

-- Coat the O-ring seals -B and D- lightly with refrigerant oil before installing. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT SEALS .

-- Pay attention that the O-ring seals are seated correctly on the refrigerant lines -A and E-.

-- Insert the refrigerant lines -A and E- in the connections on the condenser -C-.

-- Install the bolt -F-.

-- Check the routing of the refrigerant lines after attachment. They must be inserted in the provided brackets in a tension-free manner and must not come in contact with other components.

-- Evacuate and charge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit or Working with A/C Service Station .

-- Install the remaining removed components.

Vehicles with High-Voltage System

-- Switch the ignition on.

-- Vehicles with Heat Pump Function, Initiate the basic setting of the A/C system through the Thermal Management Control Module -J1024- and activate the power-controlled valves using the routine Charge/flush the refrigerant circuit stop routine  using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester .

-- Operate the A/C system after charging the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, STARTING AFTER CHARGING REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .
