Wheel Bearing Unit, Removing And Installing: Removing

- Vehicles with active suspension: pay attention to the safety precautions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING ON VEHICLES WITH ACTIVE SUSPENSION .
-- Loosen the connection between the drive axle and wheel hub. Refer to DRIVE AXLE THREADED CONNECTION, LOOSENING AND TIGHTENING .
-- Remove the brake rotor. Refer to BRAKE ROTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
CAUTION:
Risk of damaging the wheel bearing housing by deforming it.
- Do not widen the slots in the wheel bearing housing.
-- Disconnect the threaded connection -1-.
-- Remove the joint pins in the upper control arm -2- from the wheel bearing housing.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the wheel hub -2- with the wheel bearing unit from the drive axle -3- and remove it from the wheel bearing housing -1-.
CAUTION:
Contamination increases the risk of destroying the wheel bearing.
- Protect the contact surfaces on the wheel bearing from dirt.
