Coupling Rod, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Versions with coil springs: determine the curb weight position. Refer to WHEEL BEARING IN CURB WEIGHT POSITION, LIFTING VEHICLES WITH COIL SPRING .

-- Versions with air suspension: determine the standard vehicle height. Refer to WHEEL BEARING AT STANDARD VEHICLE HEIGHT, LIFTING VEHICLES WITH AIR SUSPENSION .

-- Remove the front wheel. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .

-- Install the Support Device:VAS 6931/1  -item A- to the brake rotor -1- using two wheel bolts -2-.

-- Position the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS 6931  -item B- on the support device.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of an accident when lowering the vehicle when the engine and gearbox jack is underneath it.

- Never lower the vehicle when the engine and gearbox jack is underneath it.

- Never leave the engine and gearbox jack under the vehicle any longer than necessary.

-- Slightly lift the wheel bearing housing using the Support Device:VAS 6931/1  with the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS 6931  this allows the threaded connections to easily separate.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows-.

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 3- and coupling rod -2-.

-- Push the front wheels in accordingly if required to remove the lower bolt.
