Pedestrian Protection Crash Sensor -G570- / -G571-, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
Risk of airbag deployment.
There is a risk of injury.
- Check if the airbag indicator lamp turns on or blinks.
- If the airbag indicator lamp turns on or blinks, the DTC memory must be read.
- If >>short circuit to positive<< is a DTC memory entry, disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
- If there is a DTC memory entry, the Guided Fault Finding instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester must always be followed.
- If the airbag indicator lamp does not turn on or blink, or there is no DTC memory entry with >>short circuit to positive<< : switch off the ignition, keep the ignition key outside of the vehicle and wait 10 seconds.
-- Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.
There is a risk of injury.
- Discharge static electricity by briefly touching the door striker.
-- To do this pull out the connector lock -2-, push down -arrow-, and disconnect the connector -1- on the crash sensor.
-- Repeat this procedure on the opposite side.
-- Remove the molded foam part. Refer to OVERVIEW - BUMPER COVER .
Before Product Improvement:
-- Disengage the pedestrian protection crash sensor -5- from the molded foam part -1-.
From Product Improvement:
-- Disengage the pedestrian protection crash sensor -2- carefully from the molded foam part -3- and remove it with the pressure hose -1-.
