Starter, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 3.0L TDI Engine: Removing

-- Disconnect the ground cable to the Battery -A- when the ignition is switched off. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the right engine support. Refer to ENGINE SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles with Engine Codes DHXA, DHXB, DHXC, DPXA

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the rear coolant pipe at the transmission.

CAUTION:

Risk of destroying the coolant pipes from deformation.

- Never change the bend of the coolant pipes.

-- Push the rear coolant pipe carefully to the side to remove the bolt for the starter.

-- Remove the nut -4- and free up the 30/B+ wire terminal -2-.

-- Release and disconnect the connector -3-.

-- Remove the bolt -5-.

-- Remove the starter -1-.
