Brake Pads, Removing And Installing, Ten-Piston Steel Brake: Removing

-- Remove the contact -1- for the brake pad wear indicator sensor from the brake pads; pay attention to the clips -2- while doing so.

-- Remove the brake caliper. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

If the Brake Pads are Being Replaced:

CAUTION:

There is a risk of contamination and paint damage from leaking brake fluid.

- Check the brake fluid level before pushing the brake caliper piston back into the brake cylinders.

-- If the brake fluid is up to the "MAX" marking on used brake pads, it must be extracted.

-- Evacuate the brake fluid -2- in the brake fluid reservoir with the screen installed -1-, using the Bleeding Equipment: VAS6860  or Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit: VAS5234  (example illustration).

-- Place the Piston Resetting Tool:T10145  with a wooden block -1- placed between it and the old brake pads and push the brake caliper pistons back completely into the brake caliper.

-- Pull out the brake pads -2 and 3- one after the other toward the center of the brake caliper.

-- Unclip the brake pad retaining plate -1-.
