Camshaft, Removing And Installing: Installing

The bearing caps are marked to the camshaft housing to prevent them from being incorrectly installed.
NOTE:
If the sliding bar for the camshaft adjustment is pushed from the splines of the camshaft the camshaft must be replaced.
-- Bring the axial bearing -2- and camshafts on the camshaft housing into installation position.
- The compression ring ends -5- must face upward or downward, and must never face sideways.
- The friction bearing -1- must be inserted all the way on the camshaft housing -arrow-.
-- Bring all bearing caps -4- in the installation position and tighten them, at the same time pay attention to the allocation.
- Both adapter sleeves -3- must be inserted into the openings on each bearing cap.
- The adapter sleeve must engage in the hole in the camshaft housing.
-- Align the camshafts and insert the : T40331/1 all the way.
- The lettering on the camshaft positioning tool points forward ("A" for cylinder bank 1).
-- Tighten the bolts -arrows- hand-tight.
- The : T40331/4 engages in the flattened position -1- on the intake camshaft.
- The : T40331/5 engages in the upper asymmetrical groove -2- on the exhaust camshaft.
-- Install the camshaft housing. Refer to CAMSHAFT HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
