Adaptive Cruise Control (Acc), Adjusting, Before Product Improvement

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Audi SQ7, 2024 Audi Q7, 2023 Audi SQ7, and 2023 Audi Q7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

A recalibration is required when:

For the adjustment of the Adaptive Cruise Control Sensor there are two possibilities:

The "quick access"

This procedure should be selected for the following activities if only the adjustment will be performed.

The "complete alignment"

Select the procedure for the following activities if only the adjustment and an axle alignment will be performed.

TIP:

The following adjustment describes the procedure on the Wheel Alignment Computer:VAS701001  .

Follow the preparations for calibrating/adjusting the driver assistance systems. Refer to MEASUREMENT PREPARATIONS .

-- On equipment versions with air suspension, activate the "vehicle lift mode". Refer to Service Information or "Adjusting to standard vehicle height and locking". Refer to Air Suspension .

If there was previous axle alignment the step under "adjustment procedure without a prior axle alignment" does not have to be performed.

Adjustment procedure without prior axle alignment

-- Drive the vehicle on a wheel alignment platform.

-- Connect the battery charger for the battery support mode. Refer to BATTERY, CHARGING .

-- Install quick-action clamps on the wheels.

-- Install the measuring sensors on the wheels.

-- Perform the wheel run-out compensation.

Adjustment procedure with a prior axle alignment

-- Switch the ignition off.

-- Connect the battery charger for the battery support mode. Refer to BATTERY, CHARGING .

-- Move the wheels so that they are straight.

-- Switch off the vehicle exterior lamps.

-- Close all vehicle doors.

Continuation of adjustment procedure with / without prior axle alignment

-- Select the ACC calibration button on the wheel alignment computer.

Observe the following adjustment sequence:

  1. The distance between the center of the ACC Reflector Mirror - Audi:VAS6430/3  and the Audi rings must be 120 cm ± 2.5 cm (47.24 ± 0.98 in.).

    TIP:

Perform this step if night vision camera was not adjusted earlier.

If a camera adjustment/calibration was performed earlier, then it is not necessary to reposition the Setting Device - Basic Set:VAS6430/1A  .

  2. Position the ACC Reflector Mirror - Audi:VAS6430/3  on the right side in front of the Control Module for Adaptive Cruise Control -J428-,
  3. Adjust the Control Module for Adaptive Cruise Control -J428-
  4. Install the ACC Reflector Mirror:VAS6430/3  on the opposite side of the calibration beam in front of the Control Module 2 for Adaptive Cruise Control -J850-,
  5. Check the bubble level of the calibration beam (according to the display in the wheel alignment computer) and correct if necessary,
  6. Adjust the Control Module 2 for Adaptive Cruise Control -J850-.

-- Remove the right and left air intake grille. Refer to Front Bumper .

-- Remove any dirt that may be on the sensor lens.

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester on the vehicle. (Guide the diagnostic cable through the open door window).

-- Then, using the laser beam -3- at the Setting Device Basic Set:VAS6430  , check again if the laser beam hits the sensor lens.

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Switch the ignition on.

-- Select and start the Diagnostic  operating mode.

-- Select the Test plan  tab.

-- Select the Select individual test  button and select the following tree structure consecutively:

-- Start the selected program and follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.
