Overview - Sound System, Advanced Sound System (8RF), Before Product Improvement

The Advanced Sound System consists of the following components:

  1. Left Front Treble Speaker 2 -R220- in the left A-pillar at the top
  2. Left Front Midrange Speaker 2 -R276- at the top of the left A-pillar (at height of the exterior rearview mirror)
  3. Left Front Bass Speaker -R21- in the Bottom of the Left Front Door
  4. Left Front Midrange Speaker -R103- at the bottom of the left front door
  5. Left Rear Treble Speaker -R14- in Left B-Pillar
  6. Left Rear Bass Speaker -R15- in the Bottom of the Left Rear Door
  7. Left Rear Midrange Speaker -R105- in left rear door at top
  8. Left Effects Speaker -R209- at the left rear in the roof
  9. Left Rear Treble Speaker 2 -R217- in the left rear of the roof
  10. Left Front Treble Speaker -R20- in the Instrument Panel on the Left Side
  11. Left Front Treble Speaker Motor -V344-
  12. Center Speaker -R208- in the Center Instrument Panel
  13. Center Speaker 2 -R219- in the Center of the Instrument Panel
  14. Right Front Treble Speaker -R22- in Instrument Panel on the Right Side
  15. Right Front Treble Speaker Motor -V345-
  16. Subwoofer -R211- in the luggage compartment
  17. Right Rear Treble Speaker 2 -R218- at the right rear in the roof
  18. Right Effects Speaker -R210- in the right rear of the roof
  19. Right Rear Midrange Speaker -R106- in Right Rear Door at Top
  20. Right Rear Bass Speaker -R17- in the Bottom of the Right Rear Door
  21. Right Rear Treble Speaker -R16- in Right B-pillar
  22. Right Front Midrange Speaker -R104- in Center of Right Front Door
  23. Right Front Bass Speaker -R23- in the Bottom of the Right Front Door
  24. Right Front Midrange Speaker 2 -R277- in the right A-pillar at the top (at height level of exterior rearview mirror)
  25. Right Front Treble Speaker 2 -R221- at the top of the right A-pillar
  26. Interior Microphone -R74- in Front Roof Module -WX3-
  27. Digital Sound System Control Module -J525- in the luggage compartment or behind the left rear bench seat on the crossmember
  28. MOST Bus

Fault Finding is performed using the "Guided Fault Finding" on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester .

Notes on MOST bus

The optical data bus "MOST bus" is used in addition to the CAN bus.

A fiber-optic cable is used. Fiber optic cables are routed inside corrugated tubes for protection.

Replace the complete fiber-optic cable if possible.

The front surface of the connectors must not be contaminated.

If the connectors are disconnected: connect the Fiber-Optic Repair Set - Connector Protective Caps:VAS 6223/9  from the Fiber-Optic Repair Set:VAS 6223A  .

When routing fiber-optic cables, make sure not to go below the minimum bending radius of 25 mm. Do not crush or kink fiber optic cables.
