Pistons, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:

Installation positions: 

-- Install the compression ring. Refer to Figure.

-- Installing the oil scraping ring. Refer to Figure.

-- Oil the contact surface of the bearing shells and cylinder wall.

-- Push the piston -1- with the : T40369  carefully by hand in the cylinder -arrow-.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the oil spray jets through distortions.

- Never bend the oil spray jets.

-- After installing the pistons check the clearance to the oil spray jets.

-- Install the connecting rod bearing cap according to the marking.

CAUTION:

Risk of destroying the engine by adjusting the valve timing.

- The camshafts must be in TDC point.

-- Remove the bolt -3- and remove the cover -2-.

-- Install the : T40069  in the hole and tighten to 20 Nm. If necessary push the crankshaft slightly back and forth. The bolt engages in the hole on the crankshaft counterweight.

-- Install the oil tray. Refer to OIL TRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the cylinder head. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD, INSTALLING, 3.0L ENGINE .
