Fuel Tank More Than 3/4 Full, Draining, TFSI Vehicles
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Trim Removal Wedge:3409 or
- Scraper no. 1 from the Scraper Set:VAS 6845
- Fuel Extractor:VAS 5190A
- Adapter:VAS 5190/4 , not illustrated
Procedure
-- Observe the safety instructions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
-- Move the front seats all the way forward into the highest position.
-- Open the fuel filler door.
-- Remove the fuel filler neck cap -arrow-.
-- Remove the bench seat / right single seats. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fold the insulation mat over the sealing flange cover to the side.
-- Unclip the sealing flange cover -1- at the tabs -arrows- using either the Trim Removal Wedge:3409 or the scraper from the Scraper Set Scraper Set:VAS 6845 .
Risk of fuel escaping from the filled fuel tank.
- Place cloths around the connection point.
-- Disconnect the fuel line -arrow- from the sealing flange. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .
-- To prevent fuel from escaping, immediately connect the suction hose with the Adapter:VAS 5190 /4 to the sealing flange supply connection.
-- Use the Fuel Extractor:VAS 5190A to drain the fuel tank through the sealing flange supply connection.
The remaining steps to be performed will depend on the issue.
-- Replace the fuel delivery unit. Refer to FUEL DELIVERY UNIT/FUEL LEVEL SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the Fuel Level Sensor -G-. Refer to Fuel Level Sensor -G-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the fuel tank. Refer to FUEL TANK, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
