Lower Timing Chain Cover, Replacing: Removing

All except Audi Q7/Q8:

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Audi Q7/Q8:

Vehicles with Secondary Air System:

-- Remove the resonator for the secondary air system. Refer to SECONDARY AIR SYSTEM RESONATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for All Vehicles:

-- Free up the wires.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 2 and 3- and move the left coolant pipe to the side.

-- If necessary, unclip the oil dipstick tube -1- on the upper timing chain cover -arrow-.

-- Remove the oil dipstick tube from the lower timing chain cover.

-- Remove the vibration damper. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the connector -1- for the Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-.

-- Remove the bolts -1 through 15-.

-- Pry off the lower timing chain cover.
