1. O-Ring
   • Replace after removing
   • Lubricate with engine oil
2. Oil Dipstick Tube
3. Bolt
   • Self-locking
   • Replace after removing
   • Clean the threaded hole for the bolt with a thread tap, for example
   • 9 Nm
4. Left Coolant Pipe
   • Removing and installing
     • Refer to LEFT COOLANT PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLE WITHOUT HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM
     • Refer to LEFT COOLANT PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLE WITH HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM
5. Bolt
   • Permanent, included in the delivery package  OVERVIEW - TIMING CHAIN COVER List Item:Upper Timing Chain Cover
   • Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
6. Bolt
   • Self-locking
   • Replace after removing
   • Clean the threaded hole for the bolt with a thread tap, for example
   • 8 Nm +45°
7. Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205-
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205- / Exhaust Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N318-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
8. Bolt
   • Self-locking
   • Replace after removing
   • Clean the threaded hole for the bolt with a thread tap, for example
   • 8 Nm +45°
9. Exhaust Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N318-
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205- / Exhaust Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N318-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
10. Seals
    • Replace if damaged or leaking
    • Installation position: smaller inner diameter outward
    • Remove to replace the upper timing chain cover  OVERVIEW - TIMING CHAIN COVER List Item:Upper Timing Chain Cover
    • Lubricate with engine oil
11. Seal
    • Replace if damaged or leaking
12. Cap
13. Upper Timing Chain Cover
    • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information for the allocation.
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to UPPER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
14. Seal
    • Replace if damaged or leaking
15. O-Rings
    • Installed depending on the performance class
    • Replace after removing
    • coat with engine oil
16. Alignment Pin
    • Quantity: 2
    • For the lower timing chain cover
17. Bolt
    • Self-locking
    • Replace after removing
    • Clean the threaded hole for the bolt with a thread tap, for example
    • Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Fig 3.
18. Lower Timing Chain Cover
    • With gasket
    • Replace after removing
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REPLACING .
19. Seal
    • for the vibration damper
    • Replacing. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER SEAL, REPLACING .
20. Plugs
    • Replace after removing

-- Tighten the bolts -1 to 6- in steps in the sequence shown:

• Replace bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.
