Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing

-- Remove the plenum chamber cover. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Insert the Brake Pedal Actuator:V.A.G 1869/2 between the brake pedal and driver seat. Pretension the brake pedal with the Brake Pedal Actuator:V.A.G 1869/2 to at least 60 mm.

By doing this, the valves in the brake master cylinder are closed and the brake fluid reservoir does not run empty.

-- Depending on the wheel combination, remove the wheels. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .

-- Remove the protective cap -3- from the bleed screw -1- on a front brake caliper.

-- Connect the bleeder bottle hose -2-.

CAUTION:

Leaking brake fluid increases the risk of injury.

Risk of skin irritation and injury.

- Wear safety gloves.

-- Open the bleed screw to reduce the pressure in the brake system.

-- Close the bleed screw and remove the bleeder bottle.

-- Repeat the procedure on a rear brake caliper.

Do not remove the Brake Pedal Actuator:V.A.G 1869/2 .

-- To prevent brake fluid from escaping, place enough lint-free cloths in the area under the pressure reservoir.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of contamination and paint damage from leaking brake fluid.

- Rinse off any leaking brake fluid immediately using plenty of water.

-- Remove the union bolt -2- and remove the brake line from the pressure reservoir.

-- Immediately close the open connection points with a clean plug from the Repair Kit:1H0 698 311 A or Assembly Part Kit:5Q0 698 311 .

-- Disconnect the connector -3-.

-- Pull the Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70- -1- upward from the retaining pins and remove it.

-- If the Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70- needs to be replaced, remove the bolts -arrows- and the bracket.

-- Disconnect the Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70- -item 3- from the upper retaining pin, at the same time disconnect the connector -4-.

-- If the Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70- needs to be replaced, remove the bolts -arrows- and the bracket -2-.
