Brake Booster, Removing And Installing, Electromechanical Brake Booster: Removing

-- Switch off the ignition.

-- Disconnect the brake pedal from the brake booster. Refer to BRAKE PEDAL, DISCONNECTING FROM BRAKE BOOSTER .

-- Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER BULKHEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the brake fluid reservoir. Refer to BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70-. Refer to Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -1-.

-- Unclip the coolant hose -5- from the bracket -4- for the pressure reservoir.

-- Pull the pressure reservoir bracket -3- upward out of the bracket and remove.

-- Disconnect the connectors -1-.

CAUTION:

Leaking brake fluid increases the risk of injury.

Risk of skin irritation and injury.

- Wear safety gloves.

-- Remove the bolts -2 and 3-.

-- To protect against escaping brake fluid, place enough lint-free cloths in the area below the brake booster.

-- Remove the union bolts -arrows- for the brake lines, then remove the brake lines from the brake master cylinder and move them slightly to the side.

CAUTION:

Risk of destroying the brake lines by bending.

- Never change the shape of the brake lines.

-- Immediately close the open connection points with a clean plug from the Repair Kit:1H0 698 311 A or Assembly Part Kit:5Q0 698 311 .

-- Remove the brake booster with the brake master cylinder.
