Rear Brakes, Basic Adjustment
- During basic adjustment, parking brake must not be engaged (release parking brake)
Checking
-- Using screwdriver, alternately press levers for parking brake cables...
... against stop (arrow)
If the lever of the opposite brake caliper is pulled away from the stop, the parking brake cable is too tight.
NOTE:
The stop is shown on a brake caliper that has been removed.
-- Loosen parking brake cable adjusting nut until both levers lie on stop.
- Engine running
-- Press brake pressure regulator lever against stop in direction shown (arrow) while operating brake pedal twice with moderate force.
This step requires help from a second technician.
-- Release lever.
-- Check whether both wheels turn freely.
