Front Brake Overview
WARNING:
- Always install all parts included in repair kit.
- Brakes can be tested on any commercially available brake dynamometer provided the drive roller speed does not exceed 5.5 km/h (3.3 mph).
- Guide pin
- 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
- Bolt together with brake pad carrier
- Cap
- Remove for access to guide pin
- Lower cap with guide for brake pad wear indicator wiring
- Brake hose
- Do not disconnect to replace brake pads
- Bracket
- Bolt to brake caliper housing
- Install harness connector for brake pad wear indicator
- Bolt
- 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
- Harness connector
- Disconnect when changing brake pads
- Brake line
- 15 Nm (15 ft lb)
- Install in brake caliper housing
- Connect to brake hose; hold hex on brake hose fitting when tightening
- Serrated bolt
- 125 Nm (92 ft lb)
- Clean serrations under head when reusing
- Brake pads
- Brake pad wear indicator light, if so equipped, lights up in instrument cluster when brake pads are worn
- Replace in pairs FRONT BAKE PADS
- Thickness (new): 14 mm (0.6 in.)
- Brake pad carrier
- Bolt to wheel bearing housing
- Brake disc
- Replace in pairs only
- Remove brake caliper before removing disc
- Resurface uniformly on both sides when necessary, starting from thickness when new; make sure that thickness of resurfaced disc is sufficiently above wear limit
- Diameter: 288 mm (11.3 in.)
Ventilated disc:
- Thickness: 25 mm (0.98 in.)
- Wear limit: 23 mm (0.91 in.)
- Retaining spring
- Install by engaging in both holes in brake caliper housing
- Brake caliper housing
- Remove from brake pad carrier to replace brake pads
