Cable Routing in Engine Compartment
-- Route right retractor cable -2- so it rests against retaining bracket and fits into lower slot of retainer clip -4-.
-- Route left retractor cable -1- so it rests against retaining bracket and fits into upper slot of retainer clip -4-.
Do not allow cables to become crossed when installing into retaining brackets. Cables must be fully seated into the slots on the retaining brackets.
-- Hook release cable into retaining bracket, right cable in anchor bracket so plastic barrel clip is centered against slot in retaining bracket.
- Tabs -arrows- must rest against slot as shown.
-- Route retractor cables around cable guide bracket on transmission.
-- Insert left/right cable into slots on retaining brackets.
-- Check fit of plastic barrel clips.
- Tabs -arrows- must fit against retaining bracket.
Retaining clips must be installed correctly to ensure proper function of the automatic seat belt tensioning system.
-- Install retaining clips -4- on bracket.
Vehicles with Manual Transmission 012, 01A
-- Push retaining clip fully forward over all cables on bracket.
Hook -2- must fit onto rib -1- on transmission
-- Press retaining clip onto locating pin and secure.
Tightening torque, bolt -4- : 40 Nm (30 ft lb)
-- Secure cable with tie wraps -1- as shown.
- Distance between retaining clip -2- and first tie wrap is 40 ± 10 mm (1.57 ± 0.39 in.)
Dimension -a- = 100 ± 10 mm (3.94 ± 0.39 in.)

-- Secure cables to cable guide bracket with retaining clips -2-.
-- Secure cables to transmission tunnel with tie wraps -1-.
- Use new clips
Ensure cables are properly routed in the engine compartment.
Vehicles with Automatic Transmission 01D
-- Push clip fully on and over both cables on guide bracket.
Hook on guide bracket -arrow- must fit onto slot on transmission
Vehicles with Automatic Transmission 01F
-- Push retaining clip fully forward over all cables on bracket.
Hook on retaining clip must engage guide bracket through elongated hole -arrow-.
-- Press retaining clip onto locating pin and secure.
-- Tighten bolt -4- to 40 Nm (30 ft lb).
-- Secure cable with tie-wraps -2- as shown.
- First tie-wrap is located 40 ± 10 mm (1.57 ± 0.39 in.) behind retaining clip.
Dimension -a- = 100 ± 10 mm (3.94 ± 0.39 in.)
Driver Side
-- Secure release cable on driver's side with tie wrap -3-.
- Note white assembly mark. Refer to CABLE IDENTIFICATION .
-- Reinstall foot rest support -2-.
-- Secure cable with tube -1-.
-- Reinstall all removed interior trim.
Passenger Side
-- Install release cable next to electronic control box -1-.
-- Note assembly mark on cable 68-38.
-- Secure cable with tie wrap -2-.
-- Reinstall all removed interior trim.
Both cables must be a distance of 30 ± 10 mm (1.18 ± 0.39 in.) from cable retainer on transmission. If NO, check and correct positioning of plastic barrel clips in slots on retainer brackets and verify correct cables are installed.
