Brake Pads, Removing And Installing, 1LA/1LB: Removing

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Remove the wheels.

NOTE:

Label the brake pads when removing if they are going to be used again. Install in the same position, otherwise the braking effect will be uneven.

-- Remove the caps -13-.

-- For vehicles with a brake wear pad indicator sensor, disconnect the left front sensor connector -4-.

-- Lift the securing strap slightly at bottom of connector for the wear indicator and then rotate 90°.

-- Remove the lower section of the brake pad wear indicator sensor connector from the bracket.

-- Using the screwdriver, pry off the brake pad spring from the brake caliper housing and remove.

CAUTION:

The spring is under pressure. Hold a hand in front for protection while removing.

-- Loosen and remove both guide pins -11- from the brake caliper.

-- Remove the brake caliper.

Mount the brake caliper on the vehicle using a suitable wire. Do not support the weight with the brake hose.

-- Remove the brake pad from the brake caliper housing or from the brake carrier.
