Overview - Crankshaft

- Cylinder Block
- Cylinder Block Bearing Shell
- Always replace any worn bearing shells
- With oil groove
- Crankshaft bearing shells identification (classification). Refer to MAIN BEARING SHELLS ALLOCATION .
- Lubricate with engine oil
- Crankshaft
- For assembly work, secure the engine on the : VAS6095A . Refer to ENGINE, SECURING TO Engine and Transmission Holder .
- After removing, set it aside so that the sensor wheel -item ) OVERVIEW - CRANKSHAFT - List Item: Sensor Wheel is not rested on and becomes damaged
- If the crankshaft is being replaced, then the bearing shells must be reallocated to the bearing cap. Refer to MAIN BEARING SHELLS ALLOCATION .
- Axial play, measuring. Refer to CRANKSHAFT, MEASURING AXIAL CLEARANCE .
- Radial play, measuring. Refer to CRANKSHAFT, MEASURING RADIAL CLEARANCE .
- Crankshaft dimensions. Refer to CRANKSHAFT DIMENSIONS .
- Bearing Shell for Bearing Cap
- Always replace any worn bearing shells
- Without oil groove
- Crankshaft bearing shells identification (classification). Refer to MAIN BEARING SHELLS ALLOCATION .
- Lubricate with engine oil
- Bolt
- Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
- Always replace after removing.
- Use the old bolts for radial clearance measurement
- Bearing Cap
- Bearing cap 1: belt pulley side
- Bearing caps 2, 3 and 4 also installed on the side
- Retaining tabs for cylinder block/bearing cap bearing shells must lie above one another
- Mark the installation position for reinstallation. Refer to Fig 3.
- Bolt
- 10 Nm + 90°
- Always replace after removing.
- Replace the sensor wheel -item ) OVERVIEW - CRANKSHAFT - List Item: Sensor Wheel every time the bolts are loosened. Refer to SENSOR WHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Sensor Wheel
- Always replace the sensor wheel every time the bolts -item ) OVERVIEW - CRANKSHAFT - List Item: Bolt are loosened
- For Engine Speed Sensor -G28-
- Only possible to install in one position - holes are offset -
- Removing and installing. Refer to SENSOR WHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Perform the adaptation after replacing using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
- Thrust Washers
- For bearing 3
- Lubricate with engine oil
- Bolt
- Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
- Always replace after removing.
Crankshaft - Tightening Specifications and Sequence
- Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.
-- Tighten the bolts in the Steps below in the sequence as shown:

Crankshaft Bearing Cap Identification
-- Mark the installation position of the bearing cap -1 through 5- for reinstallation.
- The tabs -arrows- on the bearing caps point toward the crankshaft bearing "3" on the intake side.
