Pistons, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

Installation positions:

-- Install the compression ring. Refer to Figure.

-- Installing the oil scraping ring. Refer to Figure.

-- Oil the contact surface of the bearing shells and cylinder wall.

-- Push the piston -1- with the Guide Funnel: T90004  carefully by hand in the cylinder in direction of -arrow-.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the oil spray jets through distortions.

- Never bend the oil spray jets.

-- After installing the pistons check the clearance to the oil spray jets.

-- Install the connecting rod bearing cap according to the marking.

CAUTION:

Risk of destroying the engine by adjusting the valve timing.

- The camshafts must be in TDC point.

-- Remove the Camshaft Position Sensor 3 -G300- or Camshaft Position Sensor 4 -G301-. Refer to CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the Crankshaft Locking Pin: T40069  in the hole and tighten to 20 Nm. If necessary push the crankshaft slightly back and forth. The bolt engages in the hole on the crankshaft counterweight.

-- Install the oil pan upper section. Refer to OIL PAN UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the cylinder head. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD, INSTALLING .
