Balance Shaft, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

• Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.
• Replace the seal after removal.
• Lock the gear backlash on the gear using the Locking Tool: T40362  .
• A new gear is delivered with an assembly aid that is used instead of the Locking tool: T40362  .

-- Bring the balance shaft -1- into the installation position.

-- On the belt pulley side place the balance weight -2- on the balance shaft.

• The milled surface -arrow- on the balance weight must rest on the milled surface on the balance shaft.

-- Move the gear -1- into the installation position; the marking -2- must be flush with the double spline on the balance shaft -arrow-.

-- Push the gear completely to the balance shaft and at the same time pay attention to the mark:

• The mark -A- from the crankshaft -1- must be positioned between both marks -B- from the gear -2- for the balance shaft.

-- Tighten the bolt for the gear and the balance weight to do so counterhold the crankshaft using the Crankshaft Key: T40049  .

-- Install the belt pulley side sealing flange. Refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .

-- Align the crankshaft until the notch -1- on the vibration damper aligns with the locating tab -2- on the belt pulley side sealing flange.

-- Install the Camshaft Locating Tool: T40264/3  at the vibration damper opening all the way by hand into the belt pulley side sealing flange. If necessary push the crankshaft slightly back and forth.

-- Install the camshaft timing chains. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
