Oil Pan Lower Section, Removing And Installing, Version 1
Depending on the model, preliminary work may be required. Refer to OIL PAN LOWER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Engine oil drained. Refer to ENGINE OIL .
-- Disconnect the connector from the Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266- -arrow-.
-- Remove the bolts -1 through 19-.
-- Remove the oil pan, if necessary loosen by applying light strikes with a rubber hammer.
-- If the oil pan lower section is replaced, remove the Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-. Refer to Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Installing
For Vehicles with a Sheet Metal Oil Pan
Note the expiration date of the silicone sealant.
The oil pan must be installed within five minutes after applying the silicone sealant.
Replace the bolts that are being tightened with an additional turn.
Replace gaskets, seals and self-locking nuts.
-- Spray the sealing surface with sealant remover and allow it to work.
-- Remove any sealant residue on the oil pan upper section using a flat-blade scraper.
Risk of injuring the eyes from sealant residue.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- Remove any remaining sealant on oil pan lower section -1- using for example, a rotating plastic brush.
-- Clean the sealing surfaces they must be free of oil and grease.
-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: approximately 3 mm).
-- Apply silicone sealant on the clean sealing surface of the oil pan lower section as shown.
- Sealant bead thickness: 2 to 3 mm.
The oil pan must be installed within five minutes after the application of silicone sealant.
The sealant bead may not be thicker than specified, otherwise excess sealant could enter the oil pan and clog the oil intake pipe screen.
After installing the oil pan, allow the sealant to dry for approximately 30 minutes. Only afterward may the engine oil be replenished.
-- Position the oil pan lower section immediately and tighten the bolts. Refer to Figure for the tightening sequence.
Vehicles with Plastic Oil Pan Lower Section
-- Position the oil pan lower section with new seal and tighten the bolts. Refer to Figure.
For All Vehicles
-- Fill the engine oil and check the oil level. Refer to ENGINE OIL .
