Front Belt TENSIONER, Removing And Installing: Removing
Risk of injury due to involuntary deployment.
- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Observe the disposal regulations for pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the B-pillar upper trim panel. Refer to B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the B-pillar lower trim panel. Refer to B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Open the cover -2- for the belt anchor -1- with a screwdriver on the catches -arrow-, open and push aside.
-- Push together the catches on the clamp with a plies in direction of -A arrows-.
-- At the same time push the anchoring pins -2- together with the clamp -3- to release in the direction of -arrow B-.
-- Disengage the anchoring pins from the clamp in the belt anchor -1-.
Risk of injury due to involuntary deployment.
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Release the locking mechanism and disconnect the connector -1- for the seat belt tensioner.
-- Remove the bolt -3-.
-- Disengage and remove the belt tensioner -2- upward -arrows- from the mount.
