Head Curtain Airbag With Igniter, Removing And Installing: Removing
Risk of injury due to involuntary deployment.
- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Observe the disposal regulations for pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the headliner. Refer to HEADLINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the head curtain airbag bolt -arrow- on the A-pillar.
-- Unclip the clip -1- from the A-pillar.
-- Unclip the head curtain airbag clips from the body using :VAS211001 .
-- Do this by guiding the plier tips into the openings, press the clip catches -1- for the head curtain airbag together and remove the clip.
Risk of injury due to involuntary deployment.
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- by releasing the connector lock with a small screwdriver.
-- Remove the bolt -1-.
-- Unhook the lower head curtain airbag -3- and slide upward out of the mount into the body in direction of -arrow-.
