Rear Brake Caliper, Replacing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:

NOTE:

Clean bolts before reusing.

Replacing the damaged bolts. Refer to the Parts Information.

Always replace the self-locking bolts. Refer to the Parts Information.

-- Install the electro-mechanical parking brake motor.

-- Install the brake pads.

NOTE:

The banjo bolt -arrow- cannot be replaced separately.

Replace the banjo bolt -arrow- with the brake hose, if damaged. Refer to Parts Information.

-- Tighten the brake hose banjo bolt -arrow- on the brake caliper refer to item 11.

-- Remove the :VAG1869/2 .

-- Only bleed the brakes on the wheel from which the brake caliper and the brake hose was loosened. Refer to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, BLEEDING .

NOTE:

If the brake pedal still feels "soft", completely bleed the brakes. Refer to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, BLEEDING .

WARNING:

Risk of accident!

With the vehicle stationary, firmly press the brake pedal several times so that the brake pads in the operating condition properly sit in their respective position.
Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
