Parking Brake, Manually Releasing

NOTE:

Due to a mechanical or electrical malfunction, the parking brake may need to be released manually in order to move the vehicle.

Procedure

NOTE:

The brake line and hydraulics must not be loosened.

WARNING:

Risk of accident!

Before removing the Left Parking Brake Motor -V282- /Right Parking Brake Motor -V283-, secure the vehicle from rolling away.

-- Release the parking brake.

-- Switch off the ignition.

-- Remove the rear wheel. Refer to WHEEL, MOUNTING .

-- Disconnect the connector -3- for the parking brake motor.

-- Open the clip -2- and free up the wire for the brake pad wear indicator sensor.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

CAUTION:

Hold the parking brake motor securely when loosening the bolts -arrows-.

The motor can turn by itself on its input shaft when loosening the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the parking brake motor -1- from the brake caliper.

-- Remove the seal.

-- Using a TX45 socket -arrow-, turn the drive axle back until the brake is loosened.
