Turbocharger, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Observe the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Oxygen Sensor 1 before Catalytic Converter -GX10-. Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles with a particulate filter:

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- for the pressure lines.

-- Free up the pressure lines.

Continuation for all vehicles: 

-- Remove the bolt -2- and the screw-type clamp.

-- Remove the nuts -1 and 3- and move the catalytic converter to the side. (Shown with the engine removed.)

Vehicles with a particulate filter:

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and nut -1- and remove the heat shield -2-.

-- Disconnect the connector -2-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and move the pressure lines with the Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1 -G450- toward the rear.

Vehicles with transmission ventilation hose:

-- Detach the transmission ventilation -1- from the battery tray and set aside by releasing the catch -2- and removing the transmission ventilation upward -arrow-.

-- Move the transmission ventilation hose to the side.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -2-.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and push the left air duct pipe slightly to the left.

-- If equipped, remove the nut -2- and free up the ground wire -1-.

-- Release the connectors and simultaneously disconnect them from the ignition coils in the direction of the -arrow-.

-- If applicable, remove the bolt -1- for the ground cable. Remove the coolant hose -2-.

-- Disconnect the connectors -arrows-.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- and remove the connection from the cylinder head.

-- Loosen the hose clamps -1 and 2- and remove the coolant hoses.

-- Remove the wiring duct -3- upward from the bracket to do so release the catch.

-- Remove the screws -arrows-. Pivot the coolant line to the side.

-- Remove the Cam Adjustment Actuators -11, 12 and 13-.

-- Reduce the vacuum in the brake booster by pressing the brake pedal repeatedly.

-- Remove the vacuum hose from the brake booster.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and double bolt -2-.

-- Remove the heat shield -1-. There are different versions.

-- Remove the bolt -1-. Only loosen the bolt -3-.

-- Remove the turbocharger bracket -2-.

-- Disconnect the connector -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolt -1-, turn the support in the direction of the -arrow- and remove.

-- Move the support to the side.

-- Remove the noise insulations. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Remove the nuts -arrows-, free up the bracket -1- for the pressure line and push it to the side.

Continuation for all vehicles: 

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and remove the right drive axle heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and then remove the connections.

-- Open the hose clamp -arrow-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows-.
