Brake Caliper, Removing And Installing, Ceramic Brakes: Removing

-- Remove the front wheel while observing the safety precautions for vehicles with ceramic brakes. Refer to WHEEL, CHANGING AND MOUNTING / WHEEL BOLT TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Disconnect the connector -2- and free up the wiring harness at the bracket.

-- If the brake pads should be removed, release the tab -arrow A- and turn it 90° -arrow B- at the same time. Remove the brake pad wear sensor from the bracket and free it up at the protective cap.

-- Remove the bolts -2- for the bracket -3-.

TIP:

Pushing the brake pads -3- slightly into the brake caliper using suitable pliers -1- makes it easier to remove the brake caliper from the brake rotor. To prevent damage to the paint coat on the brake caliper, place a piece of rubber -2- between the pliers and brake caliper.

-- Do not loosen the brake caliper/brake carrier threaded connection and guide pins. Refer to Figure.

-- Remove the bolts -1-.

-- Carefully remove the brake caliper with the installed brake pads from the brake rotor; pay attention to the brake hose while doing so.

-- Hang the brake caliper using a suitable wire.
