Turbocharger, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the upper reinforcement brace. Refer to OVERVIEW - LOCK CARRIER .

Vehicles with a Particulate Filter:

-- Disconnect the connector -1- for the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 4 -G648- and free up the wire.

-- Disconnect the connector -3-.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and push the Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Sensor -G1037- to the side.

-- Remove the connector -2- for the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 3 -G495- from the bracket and disconnect.

-- Free up the wire at the heat shield.

Vehicle with High-Voltage System:

-- Disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Release the retainers in direction of -arrows- and move the coolant expansion tank -2- to the side.

-- Disconnect the connector -3-.

Continuation for All Vehicles:

-- Free up the EVAP system hose -2- from the air duct pipe.

Air Duct Pipe, Version 1:

-- Remove the vacuum hose -2- (example illustration above).

-- Loosen the hose clamp -3- and remove the air duct pipe -1-.

Air Duct Pipe, Version 2:

-- Remove the vacuum hose -3-.

-- Press the release buttons on both sides and remove the secondary air injection hose -4-.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- and remove the air duct pipe -2-.

-- Remove the connector -1- for the Oxygen Sensor 1 After Catalytic Converter -GX7- -2- from the bracket and disconnect it.

Tip:

Different installation positions depending on models and version.

-- Remove the nuts -1- from the top.

-- Remove the noise insulations. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles with Secondary Air System:

-- Remove the Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor -V101-. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor -V101-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for All Vehicles:

-- Remove the front muffler. Refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the nut -2- from below and place the catalytic converter to the rear.

Vehicles with a Particulate Filter:

-- Place the catalytic converter with the particulate filter toward the rear.

Continuation for All Vehicles:

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Loosen the hose clamp -arrow-, remove the air duct hose and pivot it to the side.

-- Place a cloth underneath to catch escaping engine oil.

-- Remove the bolt -4- and then remove the oil return connection.

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 3- and then remove the turbocharger support -2-.

-- Remove the cap -2-.

-- Turn the oil filler tube counter-clockwise -arrow A- and remove it.

-- Close the oil filler tube with the cap.

-- Remove the Oxygen Sensor 1 Before Catalytic Converter -GX10-. Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
