Cylinder Head, Removing And Installing

Removing 

-- Remove the camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Throttle Valve Control Module -GX3-. Refer to Throttle Valve Control Module -GX3-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- If installed, remove the nut -arrow- and move the bracket -1- with the wiring harness to the side.

Vehicles with Secondary Air System: 

-- Remove the Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor -V101-. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor -V101-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Place a cloth underneath to catch escaping engine oil.

-- Remove the bolt -4- and then remove the oil return connection.

-- Remove the bolt -3- from the turbocharger support.

-- Remove the bolt -1- on the support -2-.

-- Remove the heat shield -arrows-.

-- Remove the bolt -2- and the oil supply line.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows-, and remove the turbocharger from the stud bolts.

-- Remove the right coolant pipe bolts -arrows-.

Vehicles with Secondary Air System:

-- Remove the bolts -2 and 3-.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- remove the coolant hose and set aside.

• The secondary air injection pipe -4- remains in installation position.

-- Free up the wires at the heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the nuts and the bolt -arrows-, push the heat shield upward slightly. (Shown with the particulate filter removed).

-- Remove and disconnect the connector -3 and 2-, if equipped, from the bracket.

-- Disconnect the connectors -4 and 5-.

-- Remove the bolts -1- from the bracket.

-- Disconnect the connector -3-.

Vehicles with MPI System: 

-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 2-.

Vehicles without High-Voltage System: 

-- Vehicle without high-voltage system: remove the bolt -arrow- for the coolant hose clamp.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- for the retaining washer for the coolant hose.

Vehicles with High-Voltage System:

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and push the rear coolant pipes to the side.
