Shock Absorber, Controlled

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Torque Wrench 1331 5-50Nm: VAG1331 
• Shock Absorber Set: T10001 
• Shock Absorber Set - Counter Holder 2: T10001/10 
• Counterhold Tool: T40279 
• Commercially available ring spanner insert, such as Hazet 6630c-21

1. Shock Absorber
   • Allocation. Refer to Parts Information.
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Always vent and drain malfunctioning shock absorbers before disposal. Refer to DISPOSAL .
   • Shock Absorber, Checking. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .
2. Protective Tube
   • Combined part with -3-
3. Stop Buffer
   • Combined part with -2-
4. Shock Absorber Mount
5. Not Installed
6. Nut
   • 25 Nm
   • Always replace if removed.
7. Cable Guide
8. Cover
   • With connector mount

Procedure 

• Shock absorber is removed.

-- Free up the wire on the cover -item  ) SHOCK ABSORBER, CONTROLLED - List Item: Cover.

-- Unlock the contacts and remove the connector housing from the electric wire. Refer to CONNECTOR HOUSINGS, RELEASING AND DISASSEMBLING .

-- Remove the cable guide -item  ) SHOCK ABSORBER, CONTROLLED - List Item: Cable Guide from the nut -item  ) SHOCK ABSORBER, CONTROLLED - List Item: Nut.

1. Shock Absorber Set - Counter Holder 2: T10001/10 
2. Commercially available ring spanner insert, such as Hazet 6630c-21
3. Counterhold Tool: T40279

7. Shock absorber mount

Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:

Tightening specification: -item  ) SHOCK ABSORBER, CONTROLLED - List Item: Nut
