Front Thorax Airbag With Igniter, Removing And Installing: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Follow the additional safety precautions when working with the thorax airbag. Refer to ADDITIONAL THORAX AIRBAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fasten the front seat on the : VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD/SPORT SEAT .
-- Remove the padding on the backrest until the connector -1- for the thorax airbag is accessible. Refer to BACKREST COVER AND CUSHION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Release the connector lock -2- with a small screwdriver -arrow-.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- on the thorax airbag igniter.
-- Carefully pull the cover with the cushion near the thorax airbag as far forward as possible.
-- Remove the bolt -4-.
-- Disengage the thorax airbag -1- with the hooks -2- from the backrest frame -3- and remove.
-- Equipment version: disengage the thorax airbag with the hook -1- from the backrest frame, to do so push the thorax airbag upward -arrow A- and turn it outward -arrow B-.
-- Version with pocket: remove the thorax airbag -2- from the pocket sewn into the cover -1-.
