Rollover Protection, Removing And Installing: Installing
Follow the safety precautions for the rollover protection. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR ROLLOVER PROTECTION .
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
Make sure the connectors are installed all the way and engage audibly.
Make sure the wires do not get caught.
-- Install the rear three-point seat belt. Refer to Installing .
Make sure no one is standing near the rollover protection when reconnecting the battery. Stand at least one meter away.
-- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
Repairing pyrotechnic components (for example the airbag and seat belt tensioner) incorrectly increases the risk of injuries due to unintentional deployments when the ignition is switched on.
- If the ignition is not switched on after the battery is reconnected - >>indicator lamps in the instrument cluster do not light up<< - the ignition (key/button) may only be switched on when the driver seat is positioned all the way back.
-- ALWAYS perform an output diagnostic test under "Guided Functions" on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester after repairing the rollover protection and only after all work procedures are completed (also if new rollover protection was installed).
Information for installation: for example, tightening specifications, replacing body parts. Refer to OVERVIEW - ROLLOVER PROTECTION and OVERVIEW - OUTER REAR THREE-POINT SEAT BELT .
