Only maintenance-free batteries conforming to standards "TL82506" (from 12/1997) and "VW75073" (from 08/2001) may be installed.
If the vehicle was originally equipped with a deep cycle resistant and leak-proof AGM battery, another AGM battery must be installed when replacing.
Batteries from the Audi Parts Program have a base strip adapter for conforming to different clamping strips. Whether and how bottom strip-adapter is used. Refer to operating instructions for battery.
-- Insert the battery and push in the bracket -1, 2 and 3- until stop in direction of -arrows-.
- The battery must not be able to move at all.
-- Attach the hose for the central venting system.
Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
-- When the ignition and electrical equipment is switched off, connect the battery in the following sequence:
-- First connect the battery positive cable terminal -2- to the battery positive terminal "+" by hand and tighten the nut -3-.
-- Close the cover -1- over the battery positive terminal.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the Battery Monitoring Control Module -J367- -3-.
-- Connect the battery ground cable terminal clamp to the battery negative terminal "-" by hand and tighten the nut -1-.
-- Reconnect the connector to the Battery Monitoring Control Module -J367-.
-- Make sure the battery is secure after installation.
-- If the battery was replaced, then the new battery must be adapted.
Procedure
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Select the Diagnostic mode and start the diagnostics.
-- Select the test plan tab.
-- Select the Select individual tests button and choose the following sequence.

When the battery is connected, the following steps must be performed:
- Activate the one-touch up/one-touch down power window regulators. Refer to the Owner's Manual.
- Check all the DTC memories and erase the "undervoltage" entry using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
After reconnecting the power supply, the ESP warning lamp can only go out after the vehicle has been driven a few meters.
