- Exhaust Valve
- Do not rework, only lapping is permitted
- Valve Dimensions. Refer to VALVE DIMENSIONS .
- Valve Guides, Checking. Refer to VALVE GUIDES, CHECKING .
- Cylinder Head
- Do not rework the upper sealing surface
- Only replace the cylinder head and cylinder head cover together
- Valve Stem Seal
- There are different versions. Refer to Fig 5.
- Replacing. Refer to VALVE STEM SEALS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Valve Spring
- Hydraulic Lifter
- Do not interchange
- Coat the contact surface with engine oil
- Valve Spring Retainer

- Roller Rocker Lever
- Removing and installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Mark the installed position for reinstallation.
- Check the roller bearing for ease of movement
- Coat the contact surfaces with engine oil
- Exhaust Camshaft
- Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Check the radial clearance using Plastigauge® (roller rocker lever removed)
- Axial play: new 0.1 +0.102-0.05 mm
- Radial clearance: 0.024 to 0.066 mm
- Maximum run out: 0.04 mm
- Perform the adaptation after removing or replacing using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester 01 - Engine electronics, functions , 01 - Chain length diagnostic adaptation
- Cylinder Head Cover
- With integrated camshaft bearings
- Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Only clean the sealing surface, reworking is not permitted.
- Remove old sealant residue.
- Only replace the cylinder head and cylinder head cover together
- Perform the adaptation after removing or replacing using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester 01 - Engine electronics, functions , 01 - Chain length diagnostic adaptation

Loosening the Cylinder Head Cover
-- Loosen the bolts in the sequence -1 through 6-.
Cylinder Head Cover - Tightening Specifications and Sequence
- Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.
- Pay attention that the cylinder head cover is not tilted.
-- Tighten the bolts in the steps shown in the sequence:

- The tight spring coils -arrow- face toward cylinder head.
Different Valve Stem Seals
A - Valve stem seal with a sealing lip -A-
- For intake and exhaust side
B - Valve stem seal with two sealing lips -B-
- Only for exhaust side, specific engines. Refer to the Parts Information for the allocation.
