Sealing Flange, Removing And Installing, Transmission Side: Installing

Replace the sealing flange after removal.
To prevent contamination of the lubricating system with sealant residue, place a clean cloth over the open part of the oil pan.

CAUTION:

Risk of Injuring the Eyes from Sealant Residue.

- Wear protective eyewear.

-- Remove the sealant residue on the cylinder block -1- using a flat-blade scraper or a rotating plastic brush.

-- Clean any oil and grease off of the sealing surfaces and crankshaft journal.

TIP:

Be sure to check the expiration date of the sealant.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: about 2 mm).

CAUTION:

There Is a Risk That the Lubrication System Could Be Blocked by Excess Sealant.

- Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.

Sealant bead thickness: 2 to 3 mm.
The sealing flange must be installed within five minutes of applying the sealant.
Check the sealing lip of the sealing flange, it must not be kinked or damaged.
The sealing lip -1- after the installation points to the engine -arrow-.

-- Check the : T10122/6A -B- ; it must not be tilted or contaminated.

-- Mount the : T10122/1 -A- on the : T10122/6A -B- in direction of -arrow-.

-- Slide the Sealing Flange -- -C- on the Guide Piece -B- in direction of -arrow-, with the outer side on it.

-- Remove the Guide Piece -A-.

-- Place the Guide Piece -A- with the Sealing Flange -- -B- on the crankshaft journal.

TIP:

It is not necessary to tighten the bolts -arrows-

-- Slide the Sealing Flange -- -B- through the Guide Piece -A- on the crankshaft journal.

-- Remove the Guide Piece -A-.

-- Tighten the sealing flange. Refer to Figure

After installing the sealing flange, the sealant must dry for approximately 30 minutes. Only afterward may the engine oil be replenished.

Further installation is performed in reverse order of removal, while noting the following:

-- Install the intermediate plate. Refer to Figure.

-- Install the flywheel. Refer to FLYWHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Check the oil level. Refer to ENGINE OIL .
