Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing

CAUTION:

High voltage is extremely dangerous.

Electrocution can cause death or very serious personal injury.

  • Have a "high-voltage technician" de-energize the high-voltage system.
  • Work on a de-energized high-voltage system may only be performed by a "technician trained in electrical systems ".

-- De-energize the high-voltage system. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

-- Remove the Electric Drive Power and Control Electronics -JX1-. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

-- Insert the Brake Pedal Actuator: VAG1869/2  between the brake pedal and driver seat. Pretension the brake pedal at least 60 mm.

NOTE:

By doing this, the valves in the brake master cylinder are closed and the brake fluid reservoir does not run empty.

WARNING:

Risk of skin irritation.

  • To prevent skin contact with brake fluid, wear chemical resistant safety gloves.

-- Remove the protective cap -3- from the bleed screw -1- on the left front caliper.

-- Connect the bleeder bottle hose -2- as shown.

-- Open the bleed screw to reduce the pressure in the brake system.

-- Close the bleed screw and remove the bleeder bottle.

-- Repeat the procedure on the left rear brake caliper.

NOTE:

Do not remove the : VAG1869/2  .

-- To protect against escaping brake fluid, place a cloth under the separating point.

-- Remove the union bolts -arrows- and then remove the brake line -1-.

-- Immediately seal the open connection points with clean plugs from the Assembly Part Set: 5Q0 698 311  .

-- Disconnect the connector -2-.

-- Pull the Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70- -1- upward from the retaining pins and remove it.

-- Should the Brake System Pressure Reservoir -VX70- be replaced, remove the bolts -arrows- and the bracket -1-.
